It’s no secret that men's health tends to be put by the way side in comparison to women's health when it comes to prevention and picking up small changes! Now that’s not to say it is entirely your fault Men, its mostly due to men’s health issues being under funded which has resulted in a lack of awareness and the cultural narratives with regards to masculinity being learnt from an early age, as research over time has shown.
All the men in our lives hold great importance and value, they are creators, protectors, doers, fixers and so much more. Hearing the terms “be a man” or “man up” from an early age to conform to these attributes of being strong, tough, brave and self-reliant needs to change to include the importance of men’s health and well-being issues. Men you can still have these attributes and still be perceived as strong, brave, tough and self-reliant but men’s health and well-being should be a priority to maintain these attributes because without health and wellness, it affects the pursuit of being strong, brave, tough and self-reliant. In good time, many health and well-being conditions that men may be exposed to can be prevented and any small changes can be picked up and treated if identified early. To start taking better care of your health men, it is vital for you to recognise symptoms of ill health and understand their risk factors and what you can do to improve and promote your optimal health and well-being. The most generally known health conditions that affect men are heart disease, prostate issues, testicular and colon cancer, and osteoporosis. What is less known and not spoken much about is men’s mental, behavioural and emotional health issues they may face like anxiety, depression and PTSD. All of these conditions and issues later in life have crucial nutritional implications. Men’s Health is just as important as Women’s health, so men it’s time to make your health a priority! And if you make pretensions of doing so today, you will have laid the foundations to a brighter future and to being on road to a peaceful path of good health and wellness!
